Listen Up: Budukusu’s “Interview with Covid-19” is a masterpiece.

The world is saddled with a deadly pandemic called Covid-19; several thousands of people have lost their lives, with nearly a million people catching the virus.  Originating from China, invading Italy and Spain, locking down Iran, sweeping through the United States and causing massive shutdowns across the world; this virus is definitely a monstrous beast on a prowl. It is therefore important for talented musicians like Budukusu, to help reduce the spread.

One of Ghana’s lyrically dexterous rappers Budukusu, has added his voice to the ongoing educational drive geared towards reducing the spread of Covid-19. The hip-hop song produced by KV Bangers, an awe-inspiring producer, lays to bare the origins of the Coronavirus, and ways to prevent its spread.

The song which is titled “Interview with Covid-19” has Budukusu using witty language, impressive rhymes, and puns to deliver his message.

Performed in English & Twi over a laid back hip hop beat, the song is expected to not only thrill and entertain fans, but to give the larger Ghanaian public more insights into the coronavirus pandemic.

The first verse of the “Interview with Covid-19” is random commentary performed as a rap verse, detailing the origins of the virus, the speculations, and the devastating nature of this virus. The follow-up verse has Budukusu interviewing the deadly Covid-19, in a successful attempt to make entertainment out of education. In the interview, Budukusu reveals revealed the safety measures needed to reduce and eliminate the spread of the virus.

The rapper who used to go by name Quata Budukusu but recently rebranded to Budukusu said this song is not just another of his creative pieces, but one that’s dear to his heart; he further went on to describe the song as his response to the need for a concerted front in safeguarding mankind in these times.

Measures have been prescribed to help protect all of humanity; these measures must be communicated in all ways, and in all parts of the world. This is one of those times musicians can exhibit the extent of their creativity by making songs that would truly protect their fans and the general public.

Budukusu once again exhibits an unparalleled skill as a rapper, and a musician. The song is best described as an innovative delivery of vital information.

Big ups to Quata Budukusu, KV Bangers & Bakus Entertainment for this ingenious piece of music.

Quata Budukusu for Grammy “World Best Album” Considerationsn
However, it will interest you to know that consideration is the first step of attaining a Grammy. The second step is for the Academy to vote and narrow down the list to a nomination list. The final step is for Academy members to vote for award recipients.

For the purpose of clarity, the Grammy award for “World Best Music Album” is an honor presented to recording artists for quality albums in the world music genre at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards.

Honors in several categories are presented at the ceremony annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to “honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position”.

On this note, all that we say is congratulations to Jacob Etroo, but professionally known as Quata Budukusu on this feat. As a reminder, you can listen to all the 17 tracks on the Quantum L.P by clicking Here.

Bill Cosby found guilty of sexual assault in retrial

US comedian Bill Cosby has been found guilty of three counts of sexual assault, each of which carries a potential 10 years in prison.

The actor, 80, has been on trial for drugging and assaulting ex-basketball player Andrea Constand in 2004.

Cosby, the first major black actor on primetime TV, will remain out of jail until he is sentenced, the judge ruled.

He unleashed an expletive-filled rant after the verdict, as prosecutors argued he should be denied bail.

The prosecutor argued that he should be held because he is "somebody who has unlimited wealth" and could flee on a private plane.

"He doesn't have a plane," Cosby then erupted, adding a vulgarity which he directed at the prosecutor.

"I feel like my faith in humanity is restored," Cosby accuser Lili Bernard said outside the courthouse.

"We are so happy that finally we can say, women are believed, and not only on #MeToo, but in a court of law," lawyer Gloria Allred said.

It was the second time the actor had stood trial for the allegations, after an earlier jury failed to reach a verdict in June 2017.

At the start of the retrial in Pennsylvania it was revealed that Cosby had paid Ms Constand almost $3.4m (£2.4m) in a civil settlement in 2006.

Cosby is best known for starring in the 1980s TV series The Cosby Show.

Around 60 women over five decades have publicly accused the Emmy award-winning actor of being a sexual predator. But statute of limitation laws mean that only one charge has been brought to trial.

Some of his accusers were present in court, and cried as the guilty verdict was returned.

Cosby's lawyer Tom Mesereau insisted "the fight is not over", adding that he believes Cosby is innocent and that he plans to file an appeal.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, who brought the charges against Cosby, held a press conference after the verdict.

"Money and power or who you are will not stop us from a criminal investigation and prosecuting a case," Mr Steele said, as Ms Constand stood beside him.

When the attack took place, Ms Constand was working as director of operations for the women's basketball team at Temple University, Philadelphia.

She told the court she had gone to the home of her then friend Cosby, to discuss her resignation.

She said he had given her three blue pills to "help take the edge off," which she believed to be a natural remedy.

Minutes later, she was suffering double vision and quickly lost consciousness.

She awoke to find Cosby groping her breasts and penetrating her, she said, adding that the drugs made her physically unable to fight back.

Ms Constand reported the attack, but the district attorney refused to press charges. The case was reopened in 2015.

Analysis: A ruling that's a sign of our times

Nada Tawfik, BBC News, Norristown, Pennsylvania

This verdict is being celebrated as a major win for the #MeToo movement. It shows that the shift in our society and culture from doubting to believing victims is also affecting the justice system. Bill Cosby's lawyers anticipated this and took direct aim at the movement during the trial, telling the jury "mob rule is not due process." But ultimately, the jury sided with Andrea Constand and set aside the 80-year-old comedian's wholesome image as American's favourite dad.

At one time, there was no star bigger than Bill Cosby. He was the most watched man on television, a role model for minorities trying to break into Hollywood. And despite years of allegations, he seemed untouchable. That has now all changed, and there is no doubt that this verdict will have far-reaching consequences.

Judge Steven O'Neill allowed five of Cosby's other accusers to serve as "prior bad acts" witnesses during the trial, as the prosecution sought to establish a pattern of misconduct.

Heidi Thomas told the court that the comedian served her spiked wine that made her drowsy for four days in 1984.

Former US model Janice Dickinson was among those who testified, alleging that Cosby drugged and raped her at a hotel in 1982, when she was 27 years old.

"I wanted to hit him, wanted to punch him in the face," Ms Dickinson, 63, told the courtroom in Norristown, Pennsylvania. "I felt anger, was humiliated, disgusted, ashamed."

The former reality television star testified Mr Cosby offered her a blue pill that he said would help with discomfort from menstrual cramps.

"He smelled like cigars and espresso and his body odour," she said. "I couldn't move, I felt like I was rendered motionless.

"Here was America's dad on top of me, happily married man with five children and how very, very wrong it was," she said.

The case against Cosby was one of the first celebrity assault trials conducted in the light of the #MeToo movement, which has raised awareness of alleged sexual misconduct by a number of powerful media figures.

QUATA BUDUKUSU: “ANO DEY SEE YOU SEFF”- A TONGUE-TWISTING TECHNIQUE THAT EXCELS!

Jacob Nana Kwame Etroo, b.k.a Quata Budukusu, started his musical career by combining Root African vibes and native Twi and inventing a unique style of rap genre called TONGUE TWISTING – a rhythmic chain of words in the fastest way one could run a tongue with words musically with a perfected style and skill on a beat. He is regarded, in Ghana, as the inventor of tongue-twisting in Twi. An accomplished songwriter, the versatile artist can both rap, sing in a variety of styles that goes from dancehall to pop music, and everything in-between.

In 2004, Quata Budukusu released his debut album, WONIE that took the Ghana music scene by storm. He has since gone on to feature in a long list of hit songs and viral videos in his home country. After taking a break, Budukusu returned with the INDEPENDENCE Album which featured the first English and Twi pop song, entitled BABY. The surprise came on the 18th of August 2017, when Quata Budukusureleased QUANTUM RIDDEM, distributed by VPAL music, which happens to be the first full-length album – in this case 13 tracks – delivered on just one single beat!

Recently we listened to Quata Budukusu’s latest smash single, “Ano Dey See You Seff”, bathed in a sizzling trap decoration. If tongue-twisting in Twi is Budukusu’s forte, you wouldn’t expect him to leap from the foundation that his music career on built on. Switching up at the height of his popularity would be bold, insane, and trying to fix something that isn’t broken.

But Budukusu is both bold and insane – anybody who could record 13 different songs on one single beat, certainly has no fear of pushing boundaries or breaking down the walls of conservatism. And trap lends itself perfectly to all sorts of progressive interpretations.

What Quata Budukusu will say and how he will deliver the message is what fans are most intrigued by. From high-speed flow patterns to trap-drenched crooning, he has a distinguished voice, and I’m impressed by his energy. Budukusu is rapping like a man possessed.

Yet at the same time he sounds totally focused and never loses the melodic slant in his voice – essential when you need to stay musical and not just sound like you’re speed-reading the phone directory. This is probably where Budukusu’s tongue-twisting technique excels in giving him the edge over his trap contemporaries.

Quata Budukusu literary pulls off an Olympic performance on head-banging track. The keys and hi-hats combine to turn the track into a trap monster with an African twist. Budukusu is making a compelling argument right now with “Ano Dey See You Seff”. And my question is: “Is there any trap, or other kind of rapper of his versatility, out there right now that sounds this convincing?” There’s an electricity in this record – an indication that this is an artist whose sails have caught a full wind!

Quata Budukusu drops two new Music Videos

After the successful release of Quantum Riddim album, Ghanaian rapper, Quata Budukusu has released two music videos for his singles, Hallelujah (produced by Ephraim Beats) and Ano Dey See you Seff (produced by KV Bangerz). Coby Melody Twum of Scoby Philms directed both videos.

Per Quata Budukusu, God has been good for him, his family, friends, fans, and even the enemies and there is the need to glorify His name. Quata Budukusu showed his versatility in music once again with the release of the gospel-like tune, Hallelujah. In Hallelujah, Quata Budukusu is calling on all the living souls to give praise to the creator of the universe. Quata Budukusu maintained that all living souls who made it to this time of the year should “Join me make we sing and give Him praise” because we don’t deserve better than those that have lost their lives. Quata Budukusu gave his testimony in the song because he believes he does not deserve to be alive, but, just by the grace of the Almighty.

Quata Budukusu was at his usual best in Ano Dey See You Seff, and there is a clear indication from that he is not “dead” as speculated. Quata Budukusu is still a power to reckon with in the hip-hop/hip-life genre as he showed his lyrical prowess in this classic hip-hop song “Ano Dey See You Seff.” Ghanaians and the hip-hop lovers around the globe should be ready for more tunes from Quata Budukusu.

Quata Budukusu Continues a steady steamy ride with “Ghost Ride”

Quata Budukusu continues the weekly bouts of hiphop lyricism. What started on a subtle note is gradually gaining attention and true hip hop would appreciate his game plan and the desire to see hiphop grow in Ghana.

Call him most hated, the rapper whose honesty and sincerity seems to make others want to see him out of the game. His desire to keep the genre active yet fun is very commendable. On the hate Quata Budukusu say’s “when you pray for the rain, you gotta deal with the mud."

Performing”Ghost Ride” on a KV Bangers trapbeat, Quata Budukusu is still in your face. Quata Budukusu is preparing to release the "Quantum Riddim" album.

Paapa Yankson, highlife legend from Ghana, dead

Highlife legend Paapa Yankson has died, StarrFMonline.com has learnt.

The ‘Tena Me Nkyen’ hitmaker died at a hospital in Accra Friday morning, his wife confirmed to StarrFMonline.com.

The last time Paapa, as he was affectionately called, was seen in public was when he left his sick bed to perform at the Bottles and Bands Festival at the Polo Grounds in November 2016.

He was 72.

His popular songs include; Wiase Mu Nsem, Show Your Love, Wo Yere Anaa Wo Maame, and Tena Menkyen.

Profile

Benjamin Paapa Kofi Yankson was born on June 22, 1944 at Winneba in the Central region. His latent music flair was discovered at the funeral of a neighbor. He landed his first music contract during his mother’s funeral. And for more than 30 years Paapa Yankson has produced music that has brought life to many dead souls.

Even though both of his parents were musicians, they didn’t want him to take up singing. Instead, they wanted him to have a white collar job.

His father, Benjamin Akono Yankson, was a reputable trumpeter with the Apam Brass Band while his mother Akua Doma, a trader, was a member of the Christ Little Band of the Methodist Church. According to him, anytime his mother sang while doing her house chores, he sang along with her.

He was instrumental in the projection of music bands into critical national acclaim-  the Western Diamond Band, The Gold Nuggets Band and the Carousel Seven Band.

He has lectured and performed in many countries around the world including the US, Canada, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Holland, Nigeria, Benin and the Ivory Coast.

Chester Bennington had died: Linkin Park vocalist 'took his own life'

Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has died aged 41, LA County Coroner says.

The coroner said Bennington apparently hanged himself. His body was found at a private home in the county at 09:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Thursday.

Bennington was said to be close to Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who took his own life in May.

Formed in 1996, Linkin Park has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and has two Grammy Awards.

The band had a string of hits including Faint, In The End and Crawling, and collaborated with the rapper Jay-Z.

Its album Meteora topped the Billboard 200 chart in 2003 and is regarded as one of the biggest indie rock records of all time.

Bennington leaves a wife, and six children from two marriages.

He is said to have struggled for years with alcohol and drug abuse, and has talked in the past about suicide as a result of being a victim of abuse as a child.
